After the con

I took a week off work a couple weeks ago to finish my costumes for the anime convention. It went relatively well. I had planned to make two costumes: Father Anderson from Hellsing and Cho Hakkai from Saiyuki. I got the Anderson costume done, complete with bayonets (two single ones and a grouped set of 4). I also managed to finish the Hakkai costume but without the dragon I was planning on making. I had originally planned to upgrade the Harkonnen for devilsclub but I stopped when devilsclub couldn't make it to the convention.
It was actually quite fun despite not having devilsclub there. I hung around a lot with a co-worker of mine who did a simple Locke costume (from Final Fantasy 6). I went as Anderson on Friday and Sunday and Hakkai on Saturday.
On Friday, there were 3 Alucards running around (one in red with the hat - I think he's Alucard every year, one in red without the hat, and one in black - the outfit in which Integra originally found him). There were also 3 Seras Victorias and 1 Integra. One of the Seras had a really impressive Harkonnen - it was about 6 ft long, opened up, and the shells were water bottles. It's inspired me to try to make devilsclub's Harkonnen "fully functional" for next year.
At one point on Friday, two of the Alucards (red hat and black), Integra, and the Seras with the impressive gun were hanging around on the steps and I approached. There was a bit of an impromptu Hellsing photo shoot. Unfortunately, I was the only one from Iscariot, Hellsing's rival organization so I was severely outnumbered.
There were a couple more Alucards running around on Saturday (red hat still had the best Alucard costume) but at this time I was in my Hakkai outfit. There was a Sanzo on Friday (I have a pic) and Saturday as well. Unfortunately, I searched for ages on Saturday but couldn't find Sanzo. It was really frustrating. Character recognition for Hakkai was pretty low (I think less than a dozen recognized the outfit). I did meet someone from Williams Lake who recognized it (and Hakkai was her favourite Saiyuki character). She was apparently getting as many people as she could in Williams Lake hooked on Saiyuki.
During my vacation, my company hired a new tester. He's actually a friend of my co-worker at the convention. As it so happens, he also attended the convention (Saturday and Sunday). So, the first time we met, I was in my Hakkai costume. The second time we met, I was in my Anderson costume. It wasn't until the third day that he saw me (Monday) that he actually saw me in normal clothing.
I didn't really get much sleep the week before the con or the days of the con (I was busy making adjustments to the costumes at night and in the mornings). I was quite wiped (but in a good way) after the convention.
So why am I posting this so late?
Well, when I got back to work, I found out that there was a ton of stuff to do on my project. So, this week, I've only had 1 day where I got home before 10. I'm even going to have to go in on Sunday. The next couple weeks aren't very promising either. Next week is going to be another big push to try to finish. After that, my co-worker on the same project (also the same one at the convention) will have to pay back a couple guys from another project who helped us out this last week and a bit. So, we'll be pretty much finished our project but be helping others catch up on their project (it fell behind because of us so it's only fair - not fun but fair).
Maybe I'll bug devilsclub on Saturday to help her celebrate the end of her semester.
