QUEENS OF THE ROAD - part 1

Apr 04, 2014 22:21

So here's the first official part of my report. This part of the report will be mostly text at the beginning with a picspam following in the end. It seems I concentrated more on talking with the guests than taking photos but there are already so many great photos around that I guess it doesn't matter. The pics are clickable for larger.

Hi, Pia! Thank you for your thoughts. Brings back some good memories - and some bad. Agree with you about both the close up and the dinner. Poorly executed IMO on both ends, especially the dinner. That was an absolutely horrid arrangement. Unbelievably noisy and cramped. Terrible venue. I sat two away from Gale and never heard a word he said.

I give Randy credit - I noticed he took it upon himself to move around. And while I don't blame Gale, he didn't move until someone asked him to about ten minutes before it was over. And the VIP cocktail reception wasn't much better for me. To me, I would have been better off at one of the round tables as far as mingling with the cast.

How great that you happened to see them both on the plane and at the museum. Reminds me of Cologne when I ran into Scott and Randy both before and after the con. Of course, the second time Randy saw us, he turned around and raced away, almost running into a pole in the process. It was both funny as well as mortifying to think he thought we were stalking him, but both times it was pure coincidence.

I noticed Zarata is already talking about another one in a year. Not sure if I want to go through that arrangement again, frankly, but the joy of seeing old friends and meeting new ones might overcome that. Thanks again for all the pics and for the posts. *Hugs* ~Kim

Oh, god. That's my worst nightmare and the main reason I doubt I'll ever attend a con :( My condolences.

I always try to be honest in my reports, both in good and in bad. I know that's not always welcome but I do want to write the reports the way I see things.
Don't know if they had to sell more tickets/dinners than they had originally planned to cover some of the costs when they didn't sell quite as many tickets as they would have liked or if they just sold as many as they could. It was a bit of a pity that the first activities of the con weren't that well organized.

I did notice that the cocktails weren't that good for you either. I had my seat next to Scott and also got to exchange a few words with Randy so I was a bit better off but I do feel that VIP tickets were slightly screwed there too since the other tables got all the guests individually, even if it was for a bit shorter time than us. Should have just joined my friends in their table.

The reason I had seen them on the plane was one of the reasons I hightailed it out of there since I really didn't want them to think I was stalking them. Sorry to hear Randy ran away from you in Cologne. In my opinion he seemed more relaxed this time around than in Cologne.

I saw them posting something about another convention too. Don't know if I'm going either. But I do know that if I do go, I probably won't go VIP. I will just buy the next highest ticket early which will guarantee me almost as good a seat as VIP. Didn't feel like the VIP ticket was quite worth it so can survive without it :)

*hugs*

Well, truth be told, it's quite dependent on the timing and also if our crazy crew attends. I won't be attending alone at least :)
