What a fricked up Monday.
First I wake up to not only my alarm, but E's, simply because mine goes wacky and refuses to go off. We hit snooze on both and fall back to sleep. *my dream* I wake up and it is 9:30. I scream, jump out of bed and get dressed. I call school, and Ray from B&N answers--I assume he is my new secretary?--and I tell him what happened. He says it's cool, the students are all in and my teacher's aide is covering for me. I book it to school, racing in, almost in tears. I just keep thinking what a stupid alarm I have and that the kids missed word work and will never know how to make "beach" plural... *wake up* I look at the clock, slowly, not 100% sure if I'm awake. I look at the clock again. 7:00. I need to be out of the apartment by 7:30 to make it in time. My alarm never went off.
I finally get to school at 8:02. Read my email...we have an assembly today-SURPRISE!!
But, no, this is not just an assembly. This is a LASER SHOW. A FRICKIN' LASER SHOW. A laser show to teach kids how to read. I don't think I've laughed so hard in a long time. Trust me, you have never seen Severus Snape until you see him in LASER! I am still shocked no one went into a seizure.
Other things to touch upon from today (with help from my students)
~First the llama song was stuck in my head
~Then the Numa Numa song was stuck in my head
~I said ONE thing about favorite foods and I was bombarded by eight year old suggestions. Needless to say I had fried chicken for dinner and later some ice cream.
~Children love lasers and love to scream about lasers
~My little friend, who I have been very worried over, got 100% on his reading test. Just about cried on him
~Children will try to set you on fire...using their eyes
~Before taking away a lollipop, double check to make sure the child hasn't already licked it
~Take hand sanitizer everywhere. Be prepared to ingest it if necessary
~Preread a Roald Dahl book before reading it aloud. The kids made fun of me.
~When they're sweet, be sweet. When they're bad, be evil
And I get to do it all over again tomorrow!
But...all this aside...and all of life's little crappies shoved away...I haven't been so blissful for a long time. E and I are doing very well these first 6 months...6 months already? I happen to like the rollercoaster
