In fair Canada’s farthest land,
Brought forward solely by your hand
Preserve your proud, unflagging will;
They won't be lost-your bitter ills,
Your striving, lofty labour mills.
Unfaithful sister to us all,
Stolen from your subterranean halls,
Courage and propriety arouse;
The time for hope will come, again:
Love and friendship will expire
Gloomy emptiness retire,
As into holes you disappear
Of my free voice no one hears.
Then heavy chains fall by the way,
Labours rack-the light of day
Will greet you at the gate, rejoice!
And brothers know, you had no choice,
but to stay and slave. ~psp
