The facts were these: Charlotte Charles, better known as the girl named Chuck, and the pie maker named Ned had only just partaken in a conversation that many may have considered life changing. Perhaps Ned or Chuck would consider it so as well, but to be completely honest, the giddy pair were only putting a label on something they both knew to be a truth.
Chuck mostly led the way, hand firmly gripping Ned's much the same way they'd made their way to the compound just a little over a year before, and had Ned's mind not been split half in happiness, half in sheer terror, he would have noticed the parallels - the most important of which was the fact that he was, indeed, happy.
That happiness was disrupted only slightly when the Council office turned out to be empty, but Chuck tugged him along toward the IPD office instead, and Ned was almost glad to see a somewhat familiar face.
