Spoilery for cinematography and concept only (no plot spoilers)
OK. I haven’t posted in a while, but last night’s episode has compelled me to comment. So far, it looks like most fans hated it and had you asked me at about 9:30pm I would have agreed with you. But, I guess I’m in the minority here, because by the end they’d brought it all home to the boys and I was OK with it. Yes, I wish there had been more of Sam & Dean’s reactions and interactions. But, I loved Dean’s reaction to Sam’s first couple of questions; his duck-billed lips and that deep little, “Mmhmm”. I think it would have been extremely hard to stick strictly to a found footage format considering the severe limitations of a 1 hour television format (Although I have to admit, I don’t like this genre. It gives me a headache.), but I thought they did a fair job of adapting the concept. Yes, it was a bit anvilicious towards the end, but the fact that I get to use one of my favorite words to describe my favorite show kinda’ makes up for it.
