Ok, so I know tonight's Supernatural was a repeat, but I've been thinking a lot lately about last season and the upcoming season 8. About why this past season was my least favorite and how I hope things will change for the new season. Anyway, I thought tonight's episode was a good example of what was wrong with last season. This was the first line of the description for tonight's episode, Slash Fiction: "When murderous clones of Sam and Dean are created, they become wanted men"
I read this and thought to myself, "So what? They've been wanted for murder and bank robbery since season 2!" And, that in a nutshell, is what was wrong with season 7. The Levithan just were not scary. They were't particularly scary looking, except for the big teeth. They weren't particularly smart, except for Dick; and even he wasn't nearly as smart as he thought he was. The whole idea of humans as food was just so trite and cliche that most of us had it figured out way before it was actually revealed. I kept waiting for that unexpected twist that Supernatural had gotten so good at giving us, that when it didn't come I just felt cheated. The one good thing about last season was the finale. It left us with a lot of possibilities and I have high hopes the Jeremy Carver will make good use of them. I really like what I've been hearing about his plans for season 8, but I don't want to spoil anyone so I'll save my thoughts on that for my next post.
