So Come Pick Me Up...I've Landed...

So life has gotten busier as of late...and because of the busy, I have begun to pare down a few things here and there...

Exciting Thing #1

I got a day job - a six-month deskside support contract with Allianz through IBM...
It's good steady work, the crew is pretty relaxed and, as long as I work,
there's no reason why it won't continue...I'm so very happy about this...

Exciting Thing #2

My band Orkestar Bez Ime (OBI) became finalists for the McKnight Fellowship for the Arts.
Out of 115 entires (ensembles and solo acts), 9 were chosen; each ensemble gets $1,000...
Then we all audition on Friday May 6th, to vie for the full grant prize: $24,000 -
only 4 will be selected...The band is thrilled beyond belief - we are so looking forward to it...

So...needless to say, with these two things, I decided to pare down my life...

I quit Actors' Theatre - so I will no longer be subbing for Chad as music director for Bye Bye Liver and Flanagan's Wake...I'm very proud of the work I've done with them, and I've met some amazingly talented folks through both productions...but I was getting overwhelmed with everything else...and it was time to move on...

I also had to cancel a gig with Midnight Mo - there is a huge private event that Mo is scheduled to perform during the first weekend in May...but with the audition, plus OBI's obligations to Festival of Nations that same weekend, I couldn't make it work...

There is the upcoming Ethnic Dance Theatre production coming up in the second weekend of May, which I and most of the members of OBI will be rehearsing for...But as much as I am finding a good challenge from the material, I will be glad to be done with it and finally get off this musical rollercoaster I've been on since February...

It's nice to be talented and popular...but I need to focus on fewer projects or at least focus on projects that have a higher rate of return, financially or otherwise...Otherwise, it's going to be sad if I burn out...
