Now, admittedly I haven't rewatched this episode since it aired, but I kind of really walked away with a different impression than you did. (Maybe.)

I mean, yeah, we ended up with Goren's MAN PAIN, but at the same time, we actually got some Eames Pain. Moreover, we got followup on the previous G/E episode. Which to me, was a lot more important and satisfying than consistency with Eames' stress. (Which, as you pointed out, we got glimpses of.) I mean, s'truth that IN A PERFECT WORLD we would have gotten a lot more of Eames coping and Bobby being freaked out for her. But, dude. It's Law and Order. The fact that we got to see Eames coming out of the shrink's office is kind of a minor miracle in and of itself.

Also remember how we didn't get a single Eames is by herself scene in the previous 5 years? I honestly think the Producers did a vaguely okay (as opposed to depressingly terrible) job of Giving Katie Something To Do. I mean, it's nowhere near balanced but it's considerably better than the sidekick status she's been relegated to in the past. (Even if the acting choices VDO and KE have, over the years, tried to push that they're partners rather than The Goren Show, now with more Eames!)

Erm, to sum up my long-winded and thoroughly confusing reply: CI has an established Goren MAN PAIN bent and I'm cheering on any and all minor hints of giving Katie something to do, so celebrate the yay?

However, yes omg with the hostage scene. That was just AWESOME. Especially since Goren kept screwing up the 'connecting' with the guy because he was so freaked out and just the "Eames!" lkdjfalkjdf *keysmash* Have I mentioned that I love them?

I kind of wish with all my soul that Annabella had stuck out the cast changes. But that's because I have to talk about Barek every time I discuss CI because NO ONE ELSE DOES.

Now, lady, you have many fine points here. I guess I often get distracted by the fact they did, basically, ignore her for five seasons and now they're moving into "soap territory" (thanx, VDO), it all seems like too much too soon and makes my poor little noggin get confused and I forget that it is L&O after all and I'm bloody lucky to be getting any Eames Pain at all.

I'm happy Katie's been given something to do (it always made me sad when, in interviews on the DVDs, she'd make comments about how she just moves out of VDO's way and seems so happy when she's actually given something other than exposition to say), and it is considerably better than before, but I hope it balances out more in the later eps of this season. My main concern with "Siren Call" was that last scene - it says so much about their relationship (in that Eames is the vocal one, Goren just hovers about like he did in the first ep back from having her baby), but I just wish we got some signs of life from ol' Goren-face.

That said, I'm worried about Goren's spiral down into the depths of Crazy. I'm not saying we should get all SVU or anything, but am I wrong to think that Eames would at least try to save him from it? I know he's an emotional wasteland, very self-serving for the most part (because of his childhood, or a survival reflex), but I doubt she'd let another oh-so-romantic man in her life (oh, taser guns for anniversaries! JOE FTW) go down in flames.

THINGS THAT MAKE ME HAPPY: With VDO, NOTHING is accidental in his portrayal, and I think Katie follows him there. It's so evident this season, and I just love it.

Er...yeah. What's with us being all meta all of a sudden, man?

I reckon Annabella couldn't handle Noth, but that's just because he's a douche, man. God, I love that woman, too.

*nod* I was always made quite sad that they didn't give Eames more to do. I've wanted her to be as kick ass as she is FOREVER (and seekritly totally believed she was) so I'm kind of still basking in the overflow of awesome. I think I compared it to someone who's been on a severely restricted medical diet being walked into a Chinese buffet and told to go nuts.

And I do agree that the last scene was worrisome. Admittedly, I'm also of the opinion that they've been building the freak out from "The War At Home" all season and this was another huge contributing factor. Which is also why I am HOPING A LOT that Eames and Goren get locked in a room and have a hash out of all the shite that's come their way. I think VDO and Katie would be all over something like that like white on rice and would totally rewrite it if it was total shite. You're dead-on with nothing about Goren being accidental and I VERY MUCH agree it's the same with Katie and Eames. (Annabella flat-out confirmed it was the same way with Barek in an on-camera bit they aired in the US right < ahref="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hx-lESMBOFs">here.) I think the main reason I love this show was because everything in it is so very intentional. Yeah, VDO chews scenery as grass, but still. *HUGS IT*

And yes. OMG, Goren needs to sit down with a therapist and work through some of his shit. Admittedly, I am eating that up with a SPOON because someone raised like that.. flkajfljakldjf I've talked a bit about how parent and child relationships where one of the parents is dysfuncional are SO very... overriding to all other relationships. I kind of really, really love (and pity) Goren getting stuck in that. And no, your'e not wrong. The thing is, she's not stupid. This isn't something she can save him from. However, I think she should make a few attempts because otherwise Crazy Man is going to take that as she doesn't want to. Where really, I think it's just her being smart and going "If I push, he's going to explode. If I don't push, he's going to hit his rock bottom when he hits his rock bottom and I will be there to scrape him and his crazy up."

And I think it's the rain, man. Admittedly, you got like a shower and we've had 8+ hours of bucket-like rain, but still!

THAT MAKES ME SAD. *thwacks Noth* Is he a douche? I don't know these thinks about actors. OH, ANNABELLA.
