There had been dinner. A glass of wine and a cup of coffee and then a retreat to the bedroom.

And then... nothing.

Which is why Dale is lying in bed staring at the ceiling.

Dale had awakened early and slipped out early to pick up a special little gift for Charlotte. He left a note and started a fresh pot of coffee for her just in case Charlotte woke up before he got back.

He crept back into the house quietly hoping that his absence went unnoticed.
