Spike: I don't like him. He's insipid. Clearly human.
Buffy: Ooh, red paint. We could smear a little on his mouth - blood of the innocent.
Spike: That's my girl.

Spike: And my robot?
Buffy: The robot is gone. The robot was gross and obscene.
Spike: It wasn't supposed to-
Buffy: Don't. That... thing, it... it wasn't even real. What you did, for me, and Dawn... that was real. I won't forget it.

Spike: They put the spark in me… and now all it does is burn.
Buffy: Your soul…
Spike: A bit worse for lack of use.

Spike: Window dressing.
Buffy: Be easier, wouldn't it, it if were an act, but it's not. You faced the monster inside of you and you fought back. You risked everything to be a better man.
Spike: Buffy...

Buffy: Willow did. The First is back in the mix.
Spike: It talked to the little boy. Said it wasn't time for me yet. I should move out. Leave town before it is time for me.
Buffy: No, you have to stay.
Spike: You've got another demon fighter now.
Buffy: That's not why I need you here.
Spike: Is that right? Why's that then?
Buffy: 'Cause I'm not ready for you to not be here.

Spike: You listen to me. I've been alive a bit longer than you, and dead a lot longer than that. I've seen things you couldn't imagine, and done things I prefer you didn't. I don't exactly have a reputation for being a thinker. I follow my blood, which doesn't exactly rush in the direction of my brain. So I make a lot of mistakes, a lot of wrong bloody calls. A hundred plus years, and there's only one thing I've ever been sure of: you. Hey, look at me. I'm not asking you for anything. When I say, "I love you," it's not because I want you or because I can't have you. It has nothing to do with me. I love what you are, what you do, how you try. I've seen your kindness and your strength. I've seen the best and the worst of you. And I understand with perfect clarity exactly what you are. You're a hell of a woman. You're the one, Buffy.
Buffy: I don't wanna be the one.
Spike: I don't wanna be this good looking and athletic. We all have crosses to bear.

Buffy: Let's just get to the truth here, okay? I don't know how you felt about last night but I will not-
Spike: Terrified.
Buffy: Of what?
Spike: Last night was… God, I'm such a jerk. I can't do this.
Buffy: Spike…
Spike: It was the best night of my life. If you poke fun at me, you bloody well better use that 'cause I couldn't bear it. It may not mean that much to you but-
Buffy: I just told you it did.
Spike: Yeah, I hear you say it but… I've lived for soddin' ever, Buffy. I've done everything. I've done things with you I can't spell, but I've never been close… to anyone. Least of all you. Until last night. All I did was hold you, watch you sleep, and it was the best night of my life. So yeah, I'm terrified.
Buffy: You don't have to be.

Buffy: Faith still has my room.
Spike: Well, you're not staying here. You can't buy me off with shiny beads and sweet talk. You got Angel breath. I'm not gonna just let you whack me back and forth like a rubber ball. I've got my pride, you know.
Buffy: I understand.
Spike: Clearly you don't, 'cause the whole "having my pride" thing was just a smokescreen.
Buffy: Oh, thank God.
Spike: I don't know what I would have done if you'd have gone up those stairs.
