Beautiful sunrise

On this dark Election Day

Red, White and too Blue

Spring’s first green now gold

Summer off to cool its heels

And one dead robin

When chlorophyll leaves

Leaves reveal their true colors

Just before they fall

No more dragonflies

Resigned bulrushes rustle

Longing for next spring

Chilly slate-sky morning
