Guess what??? I'M ENGAGED!!!
JUST KIDDING!
Seriously though, it seems like everyone and their cousins are getting engaged. We were wrapping up at our Friday work meeting. My friend's boyfriend came in with a rose dressed rather sharply, and everyone thought he was picking her up for their date. I was talking to the child in my lap when all of a sudden, I see Marques, the boyfriend, on his knee in front of Dom. Then I realized that everyone was quiet and watching, and that's when he asked her. It wasn't elaborate or anything, but it was so sweet. She was really caught off guard and had to run to the changing room to pull it together, but she said yes. It turned out that our supervisor had known so that's why she kept asking if there was anything else we wanted to discuss.
Last semester, another one of my coworker friends got engaged. She was at Disneyland when her now-fiance told her that he was going to pop the question before the new year. He had told her it wasn't going to be on any of the holidays. Then on Christmas morning, he proposed to her. That's her ring and hand in the photo. After coming back from winter break, I found out that yet another friend of mine had gotten engaged. That wasn't too surprising b/c I remember her saying she'd say yes if he proposed to her. Then there's another coworker friend who we all KNOW is going to get engaged some time soon because she and her boyfriend have been together forever and you can just tell they're going to get married. What was holding them back last year was that my friend was still in school, but she graduated last May so no more excuses...
And that's only the people at work (specifically, only the people IN MY ROOM at work). I won't even go into everyone else because then this entry would be ridiculously long.
I got a call from Jonathan today so naturally, I told him about Friday's proposal. It's funny b/c he was kinda in disbelief that a guy would do such an awkward thing as to propose at work. I kept insisting that it was sweet, which led to his accusation of my liking cheesy things (which I thought was funny coming from the guy who had The Beatles' "Can't Buy Me Love" on his car's mixed cd) which led to him saying he'd propose to me at a ball game. So that got me thinking (not about him proposing, silly!)...I do think cheesy proposals are sweet, but I think I'd crawl beneath my seat if I were ever to be proposed to at a ball game with the announcement and all...I so would not want a big public proposal. Even in front of a small crowd like at work would not be too great. I don't like being in the spotlight...it's awkward. So for future references, in case anybody comes to you before proposing to me, make sure you let him know all this! Actually, I think I'd think any proposal was sweet just b/c of what it is.
Aside from engagements, I've heard a lot about relationships this past week. I realized that the majority of people I know (in SoCal) are in serious, mature relationships. I was talking to my friend about her friend who was flying up to Oakland over the weekend to visit her boyfriend. I made a comment about how that must be pricey, but she told me he covered it since he just recently got into 6 digit salary. She, herself, has been dating her boyfriend for several years and he is nine years older than her. They're all pretty much ready to settle down, but they're just waiting. I don't know...it just struck a chord with me that they weren't just dating..that they were really serious about their relationships. It's funny to me because, even though I'd like to eventually settle down, I'm still in the "hey, we're having fun, let's go with it" mode. I mean, I'm pretty content with it, especially right now, but I'd be lying if I said there wasn't a part of me that's jealous that these people have found someone they want to build a life with.
But yup, I'm not getting married anytime soon...so maybe you should!

Duuude...I was taking a second glance at the 2008 camp brochure and--Whoa, whoa, waitaminute! Is that...oh my god! That's me! Yea...I was trippin b/c I hadn't noticed it when I took my first look at it a couple days ago. Yea....I'm a dork. On a more serious note, I do feel a liiiittle bit violated...just b/c I wasn't informed about it. Granted that it's a very tiny picture, I bet some people would be even less comfortable with it b/c it pretty much means your face is a representation of the Y. I don't really have a problem with it, but I'm just saying...
Nonetheless...here's the pic with, from L-R, Sunglasses, Bobbito, Goldielocks, Sunflower, Fresh Prinze, Goofy, Robin Hood, Jonny Rocket, and Pickle Juice at the Camp Jamboree in Golden Gate Park
