I actually really love the photo I got. I think it's gorgeous. I think it's very me, actually. That, however, is not helping. I've got a couple of ideas, but one would only work in 10000 words, and one would only work in 100. That's my problem. Plus I don't actually like my ideas. That's also a problem.

This is my picture.

The only thing I even vaguely think isn't a crappy idea is I kind of want to write a character I've been writing a lot recently - Lily Luna Potter. I've been writing her as a muggle in a Supernatural AU, but I wouldn't mind branching out, because she's a pretty awesome character. Anything? Anyone? I’d be happy with any suggestions. Anything. Even if you look at the photo and are suddenly inspired to write flying pink elephants.

The very first thing that came into my mind is having 1 character imagining (or 2 characters voicing) a conversation between the 2 mannequins. They could be discussing some kind of moral quandary the character is having, i.e., representing different sides of the argument in the character's own head; or it could be a nonconfrontational way for 2 characters to work out a current conflict between them; or it could be done purely for laughs.

Hmmm, I'm thinking Glee: Kurt and Blaine as window-dressers working for rival stores on opposite sides of the same street, flirting and trying to out-do each other via their award-winning displays.

The hair reminds me of Darren Criss's crazy, uncontrolled 'do, so maybe Kurt is trying to tell him something or flirt or apologize for dissing the 'do on their first date?

If I recall correctly, the entrance to St Mungo's is through a store wall with some mannequins, so maybe this is that wall? The other thing I kind of randomly thought was maybe some characters magicked up these appearances to go into hiding during the war. Or maybe Lily Luna becomes a fashion model when she grows up, in either a Muggle or magical setting? The magic fashion world could be interesting.

OK, here's my photo.

At the moment, yes, I can imagine some scenarios coming off this pic but they're all dystopian (pace the photographer, that just seems to be my gut reaction to rows of gleaming, identical metal objects), and I would really like to write something that's not... those things.

The only thing I've come up with so far is "fearful symmetry" --> Blake (which isn't necessarily bad), but I'd be grateful for other ideas beyond this so that there's more of a range to choose from.

Thank you ♥

Makes me think of bank safety deposit boxes or little storage lockers -- you never know what could be hidden inside?

Ooh! That's an intriguing idea. (Casefic perhaps, or an inheritance?) Thank you!

They look like mailboxes to me, like the ones in a large apartment building. Maybe somebody's moved to a new place and is trying to acclimate, maybe somebody's received an interesting/intriguing bit of mail.

I *adore* my photo. I love lighthouses. So far, though, the only idea nibbling at me is an Aquaman/Mera piece; his father (in one continuity) was a lighthouse keeper.

Anything else coming to mind? Other associations?

(What's really creepy is if you look at the photo a certain way with the lighting, the bottom half of the lighthouse disappears like it's not there anymore.)

I see what you mean about the bottom half disappearing, but that trick of the light made me think of a spaceship with rockets starting to burn, smoke and steam everywhere, just seconds from launch.

What this photo suggests to me (just off the top of my head):

A lantern (perhaps the one held by the Hermit of the Tarot). Gathering storms. A Swiss chalet. Something floating or flying. A rosy flush. Salmon. The Eye of Sauron. A ladder in the sky (maybe Jacob's). Silhouette. Cameo. Sailor's delight. Protection. Negative/reversal. A row of buttons. Where are the people? Waiting. Solitude. A pointing finger. Light in darkness. Fear of heights. Being able to see in every direction.

Maybe the lighthouse is vanishing because it isn't real, or it's haunted! Or maybe, on the non-creepy side, this is someone's house, and they are returning home from a great journey.
