Music for the Masses

I'm going to try to stick with the blogging kick, I get a kind of feeling of release by just putting stuff out there. Not the same way I do when I post to [bt] but that's because of [bt]'s anonymousity and small space.

Trench digging with the landlord, was an adventure... a three day, sixteen hour adventure. Friday I thought I'd gotten half of it done before he even got home from work, but at 7:30pm he came over and told me I'd dug along the wrong pipe. So we went back out and dug until 11pm, not getting any tanner digging at night, yo. Saturday we were going to start at 8am, but I slept in until 9am and dug until 2pm, then I went home to eat and promptly fell asleep. ;) I went back at 5pm and joined the dig for another hour before we called it a night. This morning at 9am we hit it again, knocked most of it out by 11am and Ariel took me to lunch. At one o'clock I went back, we started back filling where he had already laid new pipe... we being me and two of his three daughters (ages 4 and 7, I think.) Ariel hung out because she said she likes to watch me work, she liked the way my skin shines when I'm drenched in sweat. =P We laid the rest of the pipe and filled in the rest of the trench by 4 o'clock. Was it worth it? Probably not, but it's knocked off half my rent for February and earned me serious brownie points.

Saturday, I had planned to go with Ariel to the Hard Rock but I was too worn-out from digging, and if I play poker tired I always lose my shirt. So went to the Hollywood 20 and saw Pan's Labyrinth. I've known about it since Sundance, but I didn't know it was in wide release let alone at the 20. It was amazing, I was afraid of the hype machine behind it but I was rewarded. I was disappointed that she didn't care for it like I did. I'm considering going to see it again, maybe the Saturday matinee, who wants to come with?

Tonight I'm discovering new music, hence the title. Checking out three discographies for artists that I know a few songs by. Right now, that's Within Temptaion. I'd heard Angels and The Fear before, Linda sent me those so long ago. Then I heard the newest single, What Have You Done, and decided to hear everything. I haven't really found anything to compare to those three, but there's a few tracks I don't mind. Next is Black Eyed Peas, I know all the big tracks and Will.I.Am's solo stuff so I expect to enjoy most of it. I'm going to follow that with Pennywise, because I loved everything I ever heard from them. Any more suggestions? I listen to everything, I've begun to like some country tracks and I thought that'd never happen (bar Patsy Cline and Johnny Cash.)
