I wrote it down. It's unorganized and some of it might be not quite true. (I'm warning you about the unorganized. It's a total rough draft. I haven't done any edits at all, it's totally stream of consciousness.)
But here's what I've got. I don't know if it can be made into a story, since it's just what I think of Amy's character, and what her interaction with the Doctor when she was a child did to her personality.
So. Let me know what you totally disagree with, what you think should be developed further, what other aspects you think of when reading this rubbish:
Amy Pond doesn’t go in for hugs. Any sort of tenderness, really; it’s not for her. Maybe it’d have been different if she’d had parents, with their arms open at the end of a hard day, or because they saw her, their daughter, and couldn’t help but embrace her.
But she had an aunt who specialized in head pats, at her most emotional. More often, a brusque “Amelia, big girls don’t cry. Amelia, big girls don’t whine. Amelia, young ladies keep their tempers no matter the color of their hair.”
She’ll go in for kissing, because it’s fun, not because it means anything. She likes kissing Rory best, because she knows it does mean something for him and somehow that makes it more fun. But she’s ended up kissing pretty much all the men in her village. It’s fun. It’s just a job.
Amy wouldn’t go in for holding hands either, except that they’ve always done it, her and Rory. When she was small, they held hands while running for their lives from imagined threats, exhilarated with their adventures.
One day Rory informs her that he’s not kissing anyone else, is she? She’s not (besides the job, which neither of them mention). “I think that makes me your boyfriend.” It’s not worth it to argue; she doesn’t like arguing with Rory about things like this, because these things mean something to him.
And he means something to her, she knows that; he’s always been there. She beat him up for a week straight when they were young, and her punches now are reminiscent of that - a reminder that she can kick his trash but she doesn’t. It’s affectionate.
After the Doctor leaves they keep on the same for a year; kissing because it’s fun, punches (some lighter than others). Then Rory proposes.
She considers saying no. She doesn’t go in for marriage. But she can tell that Rory means it, and that this is important enough that he might not stay if she says no. He’s always been there; she doesn’t know what she’d do without him. She doesn’t know who she’d be.
So she says yes. And even wears the sparkly, pretty ring because Rory likes it (she doesn’t go in for sparkly, pretty things). And gets a sparkly, pretty dress because that’s what they’ve got in the village and she doesn’t want to waste any more time thinking about the marriage than she has to.
There’s this fear - a stupid fear, really. Everyone leaves her, after promising they won’t. What bigger promise is there than marriage? She just knows that Rory will leave her someday. No point in getting attached to the idea. They won’t last.
It’s heartbreaking to see how much Rory loves it when she hugs him.
Amy Pond doesn’t go in for compliments, if they’re the wrong kind. She’ll make a sassy face at “sexy”, grin at “smart”, raise her eyebrows and smirk for “troublesome”. But she’ll beat you up if you call her beautiful because real people aren’t beautiful. Beautiful people are princesses, village maidens, storybook characters. And if there’s anything Amy Pond is not, it’s a bit fairytale.
Don't even mind that the apostrophes and quotation marks will be corrupted. I copied this straight from Wordperfect. (<3 Wordperfect.)
But guys! Any of you that have seen Series 5! How is it?? How'd I do?
