Day 7 - A song that reminds you of a certain event:
Eighth grade graduation; specifically when myself with two other girls, Tamara and Renée, sang it to the rest of the class of 2000. We were really nervous and cried a little as we sang.
I wasn't particularly close to any of my peers and my memories of middle school can be summed up as meh (except when Nickelodeon took over, for serious) but this song casts a nice bright light on that last hurrah before we entered the frightening world of high school freshman-ism.
Speaking of graduation, it still sticks in my craw that we almost had Survivor's "Eye of the Tiger" as our senior anthem. But that got overturned in favor of a fuckawful Whitney Houston song. 2004 was the last decent class at Johnson High and we'd earned the right to go down in a blaze of glory. Instead we were robbed by Crack is Wack.
