Any questions about the Birmingham Campaign during the Civil Rights Movement?
I can probably answer about 90% of them now.
I've been working on my History IA for a LONG time. Probably because I had to start over because my topic was too broad. Martin Luther King Jr.'s role in the Civil Rights Movement = WAY TOO MUCH STUFF. Martin Luther King Jr.'s role in the Birmingham Campaign = Enough information, but not too much. After working on this for about five hours, I feel very motivated to be part of some Human Rights campaign. Everything is so inspiring during this time. I don't know how people were able to keep fighting for something for so long, even after all the violent backlash. Sometimes history is amazing to me.
Anyways, I'm gonna apologize in advance if this is not very coherent. It's after midnight and I noticed I hadn't updated in about two weeks, so I figured I should write something.
Last night I had to baby sit three kids. One was my neighbor who has quickly gotten addicted to my N64. He kept talking about his Playstation 2 ALL THE TIME and I told him I could only play N64 games well, so he asked if we could play. I though what the hell, connected my now dusty N64 to the TV, and tried to teach him how to play Super Smash Brothers. Now I am called almost every day and asked if I can play video games. Le sigh. It's fun I suppose. I haven't played mindless video games in awhile, and the fact that the most shy 7 year old I have ever met now has the courage to make a phone call is amazing. Crazy kids.
The Super Bowl was fun. My neighbors had a big party as usual, and I was in charge of the kids.....meaning I facilitated the taking turns playing Super Smash Brothers on my N64. At least I know the Steelers won. And I got my peace and quiet to watch Grey's Anatomy. Code Black craziness. I wonder how that cliffhanger is gonna work out today.
Oh yeah. Babysitting. Besides the N64 kid, I had to baby sit his now equally obsessed N64 friend and his little sister Kelly. This was probably one of my favorite babysitting jobs. We played this one game in which I hid, and the kids had to find me (basically team hide and go seek), but they were all afraid to find me because they knew I'd jump out at them. After about ten minutes of waiting in a corner for one of them to find me, I snuck up to their base (one of the kid's rooms), and waited outside the door as I listened to them discuss how they would find me. When they opened the door I'll never forget the look on any of their faces as the boys screamed like little girls and Kelly stood their laughing. Boys are ridiculous =P
I was told by the parents that I didn't have to put the kids to bed because they'd probably be home by 10:30 and it wasn't a school night. By 11:30 the parents were not home, the kids were wide awake, and I was clinging on to consciousness. Haha. Somehow we all ended up playing Uno for the last half hour, and I stayed awake by making the kids laugh (which in turn made me laugh). One of the best parts of the night? Getting paid $70 to babysit three kids for 4 1/2 hours.
Next week is gonna be crazy busy. Today I'm going to Erin's to study for English orals and then Monday I have to stay after school to decorate for our chorus concert which is the same day. Then Tuesday is my English Oral and I'm also volunteering at the library with Mike, Wednesday I have Physical Therapy (It's going the same as usual - no significant progress lately), and Thursday I get a splint to wear in my mouth at night to help my jaw. Yay me. Oh well, I'll live.
Life hasn't been to exciting lately. I don't know if thats a good or bad thing. I did see my uncle and cousin the other day at one of the kid's basketball games (the parents and kids invited me). It was so weird because they live about 10 minutes away, but since my dad doesn't really talk to his brother, my sister and I never see them. Wow, that was so awkward. I don't think my cousin even recognized me.
Alright, I think thats enough updates for now. ::Yawn::
(!!!!!!!! Has anyone seen the Butterfly Effect? I got it from the library and figured I'd watch it again (for the plot, NOT the acting), and it was the director's cut with a different ending. Ashton Kutcher goes back to when he was a fetus and chokes himself IN THE WOMB! I know, I had the same reaction.)
