Popular MySpace Music / iPod Decision - EE

Jan 23, 2006 17:14

You know, MySpace really isn't as bad as most people think. It's an amazing compilation of the majority of teenagers' profiles, a "place for friends," and an entire music artist database. There's not one popular music artist that I can think of who doesn't have a MySpace profile.

After seeing the concert last night, I was inspired to go to The Lashes [66790 views] and Paramore's [365649 views] profiles--two bands who I discovered at that concert, and am now loving their music. (And Amber Pacific, with 326893 views.) Apart from being able to hear their music on the profiles, you can read comments of other users, which came in handy because I've already found two people (this girl's one of them) who I met at that concert via MySpace.

The thing that I am pleased with is that I personally talked to the lead singer of The Lashes, and had a rather in depth conversation with Haley, the lead singer of Paramore. (I had no idea that Paramore was so popular!) Haley's only 17 years old, is amazingly nice, and has an outstanding voice, that's for sure. And, their drummer is only fifteen years old! He is freaking insanely good, that's agreed on.

Apart from all the great things MySpace has, I'm not at all about to "convert". I just like to use it to contact the majority of my school friends and to view artist profiles. Since MySpace doesn't have the best friends organization, I think I may go ahead and just make a detailed list of who I have friended (it's 240 users, I know...), but it would definitely benefit me.

Speaking of artists that I've recently acquired a likeness for, this will sound crazy, but I'm finally getting into Journey. Yeah, I know they've been around for decades, but I never really listened to their Greatest Hits album. I freaking love almost every song on there! "Don't Stop Believing" has to be one of the most amazing songs ever written, and Shelly would agree. "Lights" is unforgettable, and "Be Good To Yourself" is so rocking.

With all of the current artists I love, these three new additions as of the past 24 hours will definitely get me through the next part of my life with their awesome sounding music. I was giving it a lot of thought, and I think I may end up going with the black iPod 30 GB Video because: 1) it's $299, and that's a steal; 2) it's thinner than the 60 GB and 30 GB is all I need; 3) the screen is amazingly large (ten lines of display); 4) I hear iTunes is a great program; and 5) I need something simple and reliable to put all my music and photos on. This is most likely the winner.
