Finals for first and second period occured today. Before that, however, I had to wake up. Surprisingly enough (again), I didn't wake up until about 7:20 AM. I quickly ate breakfast, did my morning routines, and we left as soon as possible. I got to school on time and instantly started preparing for the World History final. During announcements and for about the next fifteen minutes I crammed the fifty-eight questions on the study guide that Mrs. Beaver gave us the day before, in hopes that they would somehow stick with me through the test taking. Indeed they did.
I finished my test with about an hour remaining in the class. About a half an hour later, the slowest person finished up and Mrs. Beaver did something she called "Academy Awards". It's where she awards certain people for weird things they did over the past "year". Some kids got the "gum-chewer" award, one person got an award for not having a textbook the entire term long, even though homework every night required it, and strange things like that. For the last half hour, we watched the recording of our "Dictator Dating Game", which was really diseased.
Our fifteen minute "nutrition break" happened after that. I talked to random people in the band room; good times. Once I felt content, I went to Spanish class and was just hoping for the final to quickly finish once I started it. Mr. Ortega had us turn in our text books, and then once the directions were understood, we started the listening portion of the 125-question test. I didn't really understand it, but I would make up for it with the rest of the test, which I completely understood and finished successfully.
With about forty-five minutes in class left, I had some of the fudge Lauren gave me. I chatted with Nancy, Roberto, Kyle, and Megan, as well as Mr. Ortega. There was a survey about our "four by four" block schedule that I completed, and I also threw in the fact that "Lunch is way too short, a 45-60 minute lunch is highly necessary versus 30 minutes," but I doubt they'll listen. Before long, it was approaching 12:30 PM, and school was soon to be out. Afterward, instead of getting some food, Sharaya's dad told me about the details of the gig on Saturday. He gave me a book of songs to practice and told me it was at 6 o'clock; I said I'd be there. Until 1:30 PM, I practiced that and conversed with Shelly, Taiki, and John Bye.
Mrs. Stuart snagged us up, though, and we were "forced" (not really, but still) to help put together the audition CDs for "The Wiz". I kind of ducked out of the main Dixon lecturing, but once the rehearsing with Mrs. Stuart started, I tuned in. She mentioned that Juan--the percussion teacher for drumline--would be playing the drum set in the musical, which is awesome. We'll have a pretty strong rhythm section that way. At 3:30 PM the rehearsal ended, I lingered a little, and found Elena and Alicia. Elena's dad agreed to drive me home, and thus I was at 4:00 PM. A simple, full-on day at school completed with ease.
