Hi there! I'm new to the community, so I haven't had a chance to read more than 40 entries back. If my question has already been addressed, I'll keep searching the archives.
I played piano as a youngster (I left for the life of jazz and drink -- er, I mean, bari sax) and now that I own my home, I want to have my own piano. I looked at a used Gulbransen 1928 upright this evening and now I have a few questions about piano tuning and repair.
This piano is in pretty good shape, but it clearly needs tuning and has some other problems that I'm not sure a regular tune-up would fix: it sounds like the damper pedal is always on, and 3+ keys make no sound. Are these problems fixable? Are they fixable for under $200-$250?
I just want to avoid dumping money into something that needs to be rebuilt rather than repaired. I'd rather just buy a more expensive but higher quality piano at that point. Thanks for any insight you can offer!
