Last night I endured a 90 minute long planetarium Laser Light show that was organized by the language school. When you first walk into the planetarium, it looks like you get to sit on really nice leather seats with a design that facilitates looking up at the ceiling. But after about 5 minutes, my back and neck were unbearably sore and I had adjusted a countless number of times in the hope of finding a comfortable position but to no avail. The light show consisted of some lights that would make simple dancing geometric shapes in the center of the ceiling, while there were various artistic slides projected on the rim of the ceiling. At one point, I almost managed to fall asleep but then a light would periodically shine directly into my eyes. When I opened my eyes, I saw slides of women in various naked positions. They were fairly artistic, and nonsexual shots though. I kept my eyes open for another 5 minutes after that, needless to say. Eventually the show ended and our group of nerds made their way to the Parade Bonusz, as it was called. About a mile long stretch of road was shut down and filled with people dancing, drinking, blowing whistles, and screaming while semi-trucks drove past with open trailers filled with nearly naked models dancing and DJ’s spinning. I got my drink on and joined the street scene. The party wound down around 10pm so about a dozen of us purchased the relatively cheap after party tickets which was held in a soccer stadium. More dancing and drinking ensued and people started calling it quits around 1am. Three of us decided to stay a bit longer and at about 3 we too began to stumble our way home. Unfortunately, the public transportation halts at 11pm and there’s only a sketchy taxi service and a limited night bus service after that. I didn’t have a map of the night bus schedule so I ended up taking a lonely, anticlimactic 45 minute walk home, and finally got home around 4:30 (after waiting 40 minutes for a night bus that never came).

A few pictures of Budapest…
