My days off have arrived! Ah, it's like a weight off my shoulders. I plan on taking it pretty easy for the most part, though I'll do some unpacking, of course. Going to relax while I can, for once I get back on, I may have to work six days in a row. I was able to talk to the manager today and fix my schedule. Now instead of Monday-Tuesday off, I'll have Tueday-Wednesday. I hope the work will be fairly easy those days, but I doubt it. XD
Sadly, this means that I'll have no more easy Wednesdays, when we get no GM truck. Sometimes we don't get one on the other days, but it's not as often. Also, not I'll have to miss bookstudy. Thankfully, I can do that at home, really, and next year it will be combined with the Tuesday meeting, so I suppose it's not all bad.
Anyways, I got to mention this. So, we were unloading the truck today. Around this time, the workers from the other shift are still on so we all do it together. There's about six others in that group, so it really helps out.
Since I've started, I typically handle the Softlines (Apparel) and the Paper/Chemicals items that come down the line. I get help from the others, of course, and I help them as well- usually with Infants, Seasonal, Toys, and Food as well as the bigger packages.
Softlines has a bad habit of coming at me all at once, and since they're such big packages, I can only handle them one at a time, so I often get backed up. Around the time this was happening, we got a very large item down the line. It was an endcap, which are those featured items you see when walking around Wal*Mart. As I was handling my stuff, Glenn, Billy, Jacob, and two of the other guys were getting ready to lift the endcap onto a separate pallet. They had to team-lift it, as it's heavy, but they couldn't figure out which department to put it by.
So I'm arranging Softlines and I catch small bits of their conversation. They had several ideas of where it might go- Automotive, because it said Volume; Electronics for Bogo (where they came up with that I have no clue O.o), and all sorts of things.
When I finished making sure my pallet was going to remain balanced, I went back to the line. One of my packages was near the endcap, so as I picked it up, I took a look at what they had.
Pi: (traces a finger under the brandname) It says Maybeline, so I think it'd be cosmetics. (goes back to stacking)
Guys: (stare) (silent)
Glenn: Well, now I feel dumb.
Billy: We got schooled by the new girl! That ain't right!
The reaction was just seriously awesome. XD I wish I could describe it better, for my LJ unfortunately does not do it justice. ^_^
