Here are some albums I've been listening to a lot this past week. None are particularly new, but all of them come recommended. Katie Herzig's Apple Tree is the one to download if you don't know which to start with. Comments are lovely, but comments after listening are even lovelier ♥

Katie Herzig - Apple Tree

I've been listening to this album on repeat since I heard one of her songs Jack and Jill featured on Pretty Little Liars, and it's been a staple in my iPod ever since I got hold of it a year or so ago. With Apple Tree, Katie Herzig explores many different tones and sounds; sometimes the songs are offbeat and catchy, other times the melodies are ethereal and lilting. But always they are charming and lovely to listen to. This is the type of music I can listen to in any mood on any day, be it on a rainy day as I'm staring out the window or on a sunny summer day while I'm lying on the picnic mat, hands linked with my best friend.

I feel such a connection to her music because the subject of her lyrics are so easy to relate to, I sometimes think, "Are you me?" I want to pick out stand-out tracks, but all of them are truly amazing. I do particularly like “I Want To Belong To You”, in which Katie describes locking eyes with a perfect stranger in a crowd. I'm sure everyone's gone through that experience before, and it's thrilling to hear it sung.

Faded Paper Figures - Dynamo

Faded Paper Figures create music that makes perfect listening for car rides or chilling out at home. They can cheer me up though with their delightful and captivating indie pop. They are frequently compared to The Postal Service (for good reason), though they're less techno and more refreshing, in my humble opinion.

Shelter soundtrack

The first time I watched the film, I knew I had to get hold of the music featured immediately. If you've watched it, you would know what to expect from the soundtrack. Strongly featuring Shane Mack, whose soothing voice and lyrics suit the atmosphere of the movie to a t. You can almost imagine the beach, the waves, the surfers. Another album perfect for some car cruising listening.
