This is so friggin' hard.

If there is one thing that going to college is teaching me, it's that I'm not that smart. This is important.

Up until now, the majority of the earthlings I have known have not been great at boosting my esteem. Practically the only people who ever liked me are people who are dorkier than I am or uglier than I am or people from other countries from my own. But someone did one thing for me at a pretty young age: They convinced me that I was intelligent.

"He's really bright, but he doesn't apply himself".

And I believed it even though I graduated from high school with a cumulative 1.95 GPA. And it made me feel okay sometimes in a martyr / misunderstood genius / superior outcast kind of way. It's probably good that I didn't figure out that I'm an idiot until well into adulthood when I stopped caring about being smart... or something... I don't know what I'm trying to say.... I think I bruised my brain.

I'm here to tell you people: I'm not that smart.

The computer programming language 'C' has been kicking my virtual ass since about 1990. My math skills are limited. I'm not an idiot, but I'm only a genius when someone puts me on a scale with 25 or 30 offspring of the hippies that decided to settle in the North Lake Tahoe area in the '60's and '70's.

Even now, I may be being unfair a little. The only thing that really makes me feel better is the realization that I have classmates who are computer whizzes who can't blinkin' write. I mean, I have computer geniuses in some of my classes who write like eight-year-olds.

So what then? Okay, I chose the wrong major probably but I like to think that I'm too far ahead to quit now. Anyone who hires me to work in the IT field in the future is going to get seriously shafted. If you're looking to hire a computer geek, I'm a lemon, but I'm not about to tell anyone.

*Sigh*

I'm so tired. I need a break but if I take a break I get that much more behind. I miss my bike. I'm too old for this crap. I hate computers.

gripes, school
