V for Vendetta was an exceptional movie.
When I finally found the time to get myself to the theaters again, I was really expecting another Matrix:Reloaded. All the people I had asked about the movie either loved it or hated it, and so I didn't set my expectations too high. Now I'm glad I didn't.
This film was so much more than an action flick. Ok, yes, there was a fair share of fight scenes and violence-- but not half as much as I would have expected, and futhermore none of the fight scenes were too drawn out or exaggerated. The film managed to be fantastical, but in a very believable, approachable way. A lot of people had also claimed that this movie was an attack on the Bush Administration... but unless there was some outstanding hidden message I missed out on, this wasn't the case at all. The film was not so much an attack on the present as it was a warning for the future.
It's hard to put in words, exactly, how this movie made me feel.
So I won't.
Instead, I'll just simply tell everyone to see it and to keep an open mind about what you see.
If you liked the Phantom of the Opera, The Count of Monte Cristo or the first Matrix... I have no doubt in my mind you'd enjoy this film.
I didn't have any money to go to Ultra.
So I didn't.
I did get plenty of calls from the people who did go, though... telling me how great it was.
In a small way I'm happy for my friends who were able to go. In a big way I'm pissed at my dad for only leaving me 30$ before leaving on a 2 week vacation.
I'm not going to dwell on it... but man, it sucks.
Somebody called me deranged yesterday.
HAH.
At least I'm not arranged. That'd be infinitely worse.
