opinion -- free gift

Last time I did the Harvest Art Fest, one of the things I offered for sale was fridge magnets. I am not going to offer them this year because on the fridge they fade within 6 months. At least on my fridge they did.

I have some leftover though, so I want to offer them as "free gifts with a purchase of $X." What should that X amount be?

I can't give them to everybody because I only have 2 or 3 dozen left. However, I don't want to make it so much that folks spend more money to get one, just to see that it fades in a few months.

As an example of the prices of what I'm selling ...
bookmarks $2.00
single blank inside greeting cards $4.00
Card sets (10 cards in a box) 25.00 (there are only 3 or 4 of these, and they'll be marked "Sale")
4 x 6 matted prints 10.00
5x7 matted prints 25.00
bookplates (set of 15) $6.00 (sale, normally $8.00)

So a free gift for what amount? They'll be able to pick their own magnet from a pile. Or should I skip the idea and give them away to kids?

Any and all thoughts on the whole art fest thing are appreciated.
