OMGorsh this rain is glorious! It smells wonderful and feels great! I can feel my corner of the world giving a big sigh of relief and comfort. It has been dryer than I have ever seen it in this area in my ... um ... 31(?) years of living here. Things just crackle and fall apart when you touch them, especially nylon rope. Makes a big straw-looking pile. The world steals moisture from wherever it can get it. The dog's water bowl and the bird bath must be filled daily, sometimes the bird bath needs water twice a day. All my fish tanks loose about 2-3 inches of water each week ... unusual. Birds have been coming into the house to drink from the fish tanks. (Don't worry, I covered all the tanks with fish small or stupid enough to get eaten. I left Harry's tank open, cuz he's bigger than any Wren any day, and he has hiding spots. The still loose inches of water though.) Sound travels in wierd ways because the air is so dry that there is no buffer. Deer are coming right up to the house because we water the plants, and they smell the water and hope to get some. Jeff ran some water out in the shop the other day, and we could smell it all the way up at the house. All three of us girls at the same moment go out to the porch to see where the water smell was coming from. We were hoping for rain, to no avail. Burn bans still in effect, and I've read that unless it really pours for 10 days in a row, the burn bans will stay for the next three months. Of course, that'll be time for the dry season to start!
Yeah for the rain, and thanks to the Goddess!!
