Anyway, one of my favorite signs of spring is the
Skagit Valley Tulip Festival. Skagit Valley is about an hour north of my house in Seattle, and they grow a surprisingly large percentage of the the tulip, daffodil, and iris bulbs used around North America. If you live in the US or Canada and plant bulbs it's very possible that those bulbs come from the Skagit Valley! The tulips haven't really got going much yet (this was a brutal winter, and it seems to be kind of a late spring) so this is from a couple of years ago.
I just love this picture. It's almost surreal, isn't it?
