The following is just a sample from a protest held today.

UNC-A Iraq War Protest
Photos & Poem (c)2006 JGB

Held in downtown Asheville, NC this afternoon.  It was the first day of spring with freezing sleet.  I have got to admit - these guys had spirit.  My hands were blue within minutes of getting there and they had been out there over an hour.  That is some committed patriotism.

There are protests everywhere
Children marching in the street
But what good are they doing
Just a moment to release
Frustration, anger, anxiety,
A chance to feel the beat
Take your voices outside
Take them to the street

Hold up that pretty sign
You made the night before
March on downtown they will care
Boutiques will open up their doors
They will listen and they will note
The message that is in store
But tomorrow will your sign
Just be lying on the floor

We can change things if we try
We've been told this since our birth
Does a protest or a march
Give our voices mirth
We have to try we have no choice
Our message holds its worth
Until we are a majority
We will march upon this earth
