I haven't updated this since....February 15th, eh? Hmm...well I guess it's safe to say that my life isn't exactly the same as it was back then. I was just reading over the few entries I wrote way back when, and that definitely doesn't sound like me. Actually, that probably is me, and I just don't want to admit it...eh, oh well.
I suppose it would be nice to start to regularly post in this, since we have all parted ways for college (and by that I meant that YOU all have parted, and I'm just left in the dust), and might like to know what the hell is going on where everyone else is. So I will try to get the word out that this isn't just collecting dust anymore, and we'll go from there.
My day today--*glances at clock* OK.....I guess for "normal" people it would be yesterday that I'm talking about, though my sleep schedule seems to think otherwise--was fairly interesting, to say the least. I finally got my hair cut, which had been threatening to turn into yet another 'fro if I didn't do something about it immediately. It's all good now. I also cashed a pitiful $29 check, $14 of which went to my mom to pay back for miscellaneous things....such as that desperately needed haircut. Damn you Verizon Wireless Arena and your lack of summer events. I have the rest of this week and the next two weeks off from work there, but hopefully I'll find additional employment elsewhere in that time.
The best part of my day would have to have been when I went to NHCTC again. I had to take this Accuplacer bullshit test which was, well, complete bullshit. Soemtimes I wonder why I have to waste my times on these types of things...but then I remember that I fucked myself over. Heh. A boring 1st semester of college is the price I pay, I suppose. At any rate, apparently I kicked major ass on this test thingy, getting (out of 120) a 120, 108, 119, and 116 in various English and Math sections, along with an 11 out of a possible 12 on the essay. Essays, essays.....weren't those what kept me out of a "good" school in the first place? Well I'll be damned; I DO know how to write well after all! Better go run and tell Waddles.
Lastly, I headed to Kohl's to basically see what the fuck was up. I was under the impression that a job was practically mine already, and I had just needed to call them back with the phone numbers for my references (Aramark and Hannaford). I did so, and then all I got in return was this precious letter explaining how I should be aware of just how many "qualified individuals" they interview for each position. The gist of it all was "Sorry, better luck next time," which seemed to ring a bell to me...possibly because about 8 months ago they said, "Sorry, better luck when you're 18." Assholes. Anyway, I come to find out that the bitch who took my call when I was giving them the information I had been lacking didn't even bother to get those reference numbers to whoever the fuck is supposed to look at them. I hate people. So today when I went in, I found this lady named Kathy who seemed to be on top of things, explained my situation to her, and was told to (go figure) call her back when I got home so that I could tell her those tremendously valuable reference numbers. This time, however, I was better equipped to perform this task; I had a name to ask for when I called. So, having FINALLY taken care of this little hurdle (I hope), I will be hearing back from either Kathy or this other lady, Claudine (whom Kathy is going to give my reference numbers to), tomorrow--err...today--and then everything should be good. Though for some reason I'm suspicious. Fucking Kohl's.
Oh well, if all else fails, the lady who was so enthralled with my magnificent test scores at NHCTC mentioned something about tutoring there when I start classes. It pays $8.50/hour, so what the hell, right? Money is money. I just hope it won't be dreadfully painful, based on the intelligence (or lack thereof) of the people I will be helping. Frickin' kids.
I will update again shortly, with news of my progress, for those of you who just might actually give a damn about me or my life (do you people really exist?), so keep an eye out. The bottom line is that I am one step closer to having a future; all I need to do now is register for classes, sometime next week, or possibly even tomorrow (Friday).
All is right with the world.
