Ya know what sucks? We put a man on the moon in 1969... but we've fallen so far that we can't land another one until 2015, or thereabouts. While we can brag about putting the first man on the moon, we did nothing with it. We accomplished it.. 36 years ago, and it'll take another 10 years to be back at the capacity to do it again. How damned stupid is that? And for once, we can't blame it on Bush. There's been a lot of presidents who overlooked the space program to develop nuclear and chemical weaponry instead of.. exploration. Isn't that what our country was founded on, in truth? Europeans wanted a quicker route to the 'East', so they explored the Atlantic.. and found the Americas. And explored the Americas (though exploration and warfare went hand-in-hand). Today, it's all about the warfare. So it's good to see that, finally, space exploration is coming back 'in vogue', though I'm sure none of us racist Americans, or even Europeans, want to see China get ahead of us on the next moonlanding.. and if things go according to schedule, they'd have a 5 year jump on anyone else.
I still believe that one day, China will be the superpower in the world. The U.S. reminds me of the late Roman Empire.. when it first split into west and east (west became the modern catholic/latin Church and the east became Byzantine, which's present-day Instanbul/Turkey), and then turned on each other. Give the U.S. another century or two, see if we're even around, given the sheer idiocy of our government over the past century.. again, I'll be long dead by then. I should prepare for the future and just marry a Chinese hottie and assimilate my family line into the Chinese.
