I'm amused this morning.. har. I've been saying for years now how shitty GM is, and there're still some supports of American products (some of the elderly people refuse to buy imports due to WW2, but this goes outside of that) since they feel that it's as good of a product, if not better, than Japanese imports. Granted, domestics are a lot better than they were, and Honda, Nissan, and Toyota have both slipped, but.. eh. Apparently GM is closing down 4 more plants soon, possibly including the one making that convertible truck. I'm not sure if it's even in its second model year, and they might very well end it that soon.. due to poor sales. Also, they took a huge loss on SUVs.. finally, idiotic Americans're slipping away from those gas-whoring behemoths, even if it's just because of gas prices. Unfortunately, my idiotic half-"brother" just bought a Tahoe, when gas prices were at their highest. I need no more proof to show that we do not come from the same gene pool.
I'll never get why people keep buying GM products.. I have, myself, played with the idea of one day getting an older Trans Am or a GTO, but yet.. Pontiac is one of the lowest-quality products on the market, in the same range as Suzuki as far as quality goes, and all of GMs sports cars have had issues with not wanting to work. Sure, you bought a car that could possibly go 175ish mph, but will it get there? Not before the transmission blows out on you.
The only exception to GM's line-up is the Corvette.. I've never heard anything bad about those that isn't due to driver error. Shoddy drivetrain? If you drive it like a throw-away cheap import, sure. Of course, being a throw-away cheap import owner, I'll take a soft 90 degree curve at 80 mph just fine, and slide around the interstate just a little.. although I figure one of these days, I'll hit an oil slick or something and slam up against the side of the Wallace tunnel.. my car crumples quite nicely. I'll be one dead chuckittie.
