Pokémuse, I choose you!
Can it be? A spark of genuine inspiration rather than a mere idea?
It came from the depths of my iPod's playlist, a random bounty of shuffle play... and suddenly there was Timothy Maynard, my mouthpiece borderline self-insertion character (and yet, the low power member of the group) for the horror RPG Beyond the Supernatural, enacting the title of the song inside my head. And it fits, great gods above, the spooks, the kidnapping and brainwashing, it all fits! Now... how to pad a mindfuck leading to breakdown and deathspree into an entire novel? And how do I avoid killing him off when one of the primary aspects of said deathspree is his turning off the pain receptors in his brain (everybody's got psionics in BTS :P) so he can, say, choke someone as they shatter the majority of his ribs? Other players have told me they don't want him killed off, or they will... well... be very sad. All of this probably only makes sense to me anyway... at least I seem to have hit on a main character for this time round.
Oh, and an example of how he's low powered: Tim throws beer bottles, stakes vampires, and does the equivalent of a Force Push with his telekinesis; there are other characters running around doing Akira style instant smearing of humans into red paste through their version of TK.
Random side note, as I'm watching TiVoed Reaper while I post this: I believe the Devil wants Sam to get it on with the ladies because he wants Sam to make the Anti-Christ for him. I have nothing to back this besides gut feeling.
