I've just finished watching all three seasons of
Dexter. Finally.
If it weren't for
homocoucho's
post, I wouldn't have known of this amazingly fantastic show. Quoting her, "The premise is pretty simple: a serial killer who kills serial killers" (Matias, 2008). Because of a traumatic experience in his childhood, Dexter developed some weird psychological problem that made him want to kill people. His father then trained him how to satisfy this craving which would not compromise his survival (i.e. without getting caught or being killed).
As
Alistair points out, what's so likeable about this show is that you will love the gore while sympathising with the killer, which would make you wonder why you could easily relate to Dexter, or even see yourself in him. I also love the sex scenes and all the nudity, especially in Season 2. LOL.
Dexter just freaks me out. He started being a killer when he was young, when he killed a (insert name of the animal here, I already forgot since this is still part of Season 1) and enjoyed it.
claire_29 consistently reminds me that I exhibit that violent behaviour as well every time I torture the cats in my backyard with boiling water. I don't kill them, I just want the sight of them suffering. I enjoy it. But what's even scarier is that in Season 3, I was able to guess the strategy of the skinner. I wouldn't substantiate since Alistair might end up reading this, but I got everything at Episode 2, 5 episodes ahead. Of course, I'm not saying that I can guess everything, because if that were the case, there'll be no need to watch the show since I can be a star of my show anyway.
I'm such a big fan. This is the only series that I really watched from start to end (well, not really end since Season 4 will be out in 2009), and this is the only series which kept me up until 8AM. But well, I understand why
an extreme addiction to Dexter is dangerous. Good thing my addiction level has not yet reached that far.
I can't wait for 2009! I just can't get enough of Dexter. In the mean time, I would start another series:
Chuck. I hope this would at least be at par with Dexter.

I wish this coldness is just because of December. I hope I'm getting this all wrong.
