Halloween 2007: Part 2 of 3

It was Halloween weekend, and for the first time in a long time I had a real costume (i.e. not something that was thrown together at the last minute). And it was awesome.

But that’s enough about my costume (my beautiful, beautiful costume). On to the events of the Saturday before Halloween.

In short, I had a fun time. There was a good Pre-Carlotta-Street Party (of which there are several pictures on Facebook), followed by an equally enjoyable time in a bar with my friends. Granted, I don’t drink, but that doesn’t mean I can’t have fun in a bar with my friends. There were plenty of jokes, silly poses for pictures, and goofy dances to entertain me. Plus, a girl-on-girl fight almost broke out. Not to sound juvenile, but the Statue of Liberty fighting Batgirl would’ve been so hot. It’s safe to say that the Pre-Carlotta-Street shenanigans were better than the actual Carlotta Street shenanigans…of which there were very few.

Depending on who you talk to, the annual Carlotta Street block party was either incredibly easy to get into or ridiculously hard to sneak onto. For me and my friends, it was an adventure trying to get through the barricades and cops. They were blocking all the main streets that feed Carlotta. We ended up getting directions from some random drunk guy that lead to a back way into the block party.

These directions took us a half-mile out of our way. We walked for 45 minutes, our feet hurt, and we lost a friend who separated from the group to pee in a church parking lot. But after all that, we found Carlotta Street. And for 5 glorious minutes it was all worth it…until the cops came out on horses and told us we had to leave.

So we spent the rest of the night eating at IHOP, riding a statue of Mike the Tiger, and being general jackasses on campus.

It was by far one of the better Halloween’s I’ve had. Although, I barely got any candy.
