I can take a compliment fairly well; but in this case, I can understand the uncomfortable silence. Not from being creeped out; but when someone opens their heart to you it seems unnatural not to do the same. Even if it's more unnatural for you to speak so openly. (You meaning the one you are speaking to that is; hopefully I didn't just make that more confusing. I meant the person YOU told that to may WANT to say something in return; but S/HE be unable to speak of their own feelings so easily.)
I can't understand someone shying away though. It doesn't seem right. I, for one, commend you for speaking so eloquently. I wish I would speak up like that more often. I tend to do so only in greeting cards or e-mails; if then. I often get the uncomfortable silence in return when I do that too come to think of it.
Please, Don't stop speaking up because a few people went away. Sadly, thouse type of people would have probably left you eventually anyways. It's better to have everything out in the open early on than to waste time with people that can't deal later either. At least you won't have that regret on your death bed. People like me will be wishing they had told others, often, how much they mean to them; but you will know; for better or worse; you were honest, and able to share, right up front.
