This weekend I went to a
Qigong and writing retreat. The Qigong excercises were led by Jennifer and Jay Bartholomew of
Gentle Spirit Healing Arts in between writing sessions with
Bruce Gelfand. It was held on a luxurious private property that included a pool, hot tub, beautiful gardens and delicious meals. It was an amazing experience.
The night before the retreat I discovered fellow Examiner.com writer
Mary Ann Maxwell-Hebbert had written a piece on the retreat (over
here with a lovely picture of Jennifer) and was going to be attending as well, which was AWESOME. Once the retreat started I met
Nancy Roe Pimm, a children's author looking to break into YA. She was telling me a bit about her current project and I am SUPER EXCITED about it. There was also another blogging addict present (check out Rose's
knitting,
photography, and
recipe blogs). The whole group was really amazing, actually, and I can't wait to see what everyone creates in the future.
We started off the days with some Qigong and then a writing excercise followed by everyone reading their work. In between writing activities we would have what I call Qigong shooters (quick, short excercies) to get the creative energies flowing. At night we were socializing in the pool/hot tub. It was a Seriously Good Time.
The retreat really inspired some breakthroughs on my WIP and *maybe* just maybe, a local writing group... *crosses fingers*
