social networking

Okay. I'm feeling torn. A co-worker with whom I've frequently had agreeable discussions about the lack of privacy once one joins a social networking site (Facebook, Twitter, etc) sent me a convincing article last Friday. Then yesterday I came across an academically aimed article also debunking my general reasons for opposition to joining the social networking phenomena. I suppose what it comes down to is:

a) Am I okay with saying "no" to people with whom I really don't want to share my personal information? Frenemies from middle school or what not?

b) Are enough of the people with whom I do want to stay connected on Facebook to make it worth my while?

I don't know the answer to either. So here I stand. Pondering.

Feel free to add your two cents.
