So I was apart of the CCA last year and it was a great thing to be apart of. The CCA is a group of artists that got together to collaborate a desktop wallpaper for charity. What is the charity? It is to stop human trafficking. What is that?
The answer: (taken from the
Comic Creator’s Alliance home page)
There are currently 27 million enslaved people worldwide- more than double the number of enslaved Africans during the trans-Atlantic slave trade. UNICEF estimates that 1.2 million children every year are sold into slavery, most of it sexual. The US Department of Justice estimates 16,000 victims of human trafficking are brought into the United States every year.
Last year the CCA was expecting to have 50 artists to join this cause and create a desktop wallpaper. However the CCA had 84 participants, that’s more than their goal and decided to put together a mural group wallpaper of the artists female characters. Why female characters? To keep in line of the theme of the fundraiser. In 2010 raised over $10,000 and the donations were split between
Love146 and
Gracehaven. More information on these two in their link. This year the CCA is hoping to raise money again and to give thanks to those that have donated another wallpaper collaboration with fellow artists that are proud to help in the cause. If you are and artist and would like to join this collaboration check out the
Comic Creator’s Alliance and sign up there.
If you don’t want to join in on this but have friends that are comic/manga/onlinecomic artists and you think they would like to participate shoot them the website. Spread the word. Help fight to end human trafficking.
