Well, this was my first chance to see any of Queen play live since I missed Brian playing in Bristol in 1997/8. It didn’t disappoint.

Well, I generally like Bruckheimer’s films, and I’m somewhat fond of the Arthur legends, so this had potential to be either very good, or very bad. Unfortunately, it was both.

What a fun game! It’s a Star Wars RPG, set roughly 4000 years before the movies, about 40 years after the Exar Kun Sith war, and based on the d20 system SW RPG published by Wizard of the Coasts.

Meh.

It captured the tone of the book quite well, being much darker than the first 2 movies, and Lupin was very well cast, but other than that, well, meh.

Not exactly a new show, but this was the first time I had seen it performed, so felt it worthy of a mention. This is Hollys favourite musical, and now that I’ve seen it myself, I can understand why. It’s incredibly well written, both the dialogue, and the musical numbers. It ( Read more... )

The show opened with a slightly modified version of Radio Ga-ga, which worked excellently. The rest of the show continued in a similar vein, with songs interspersed every 5 minutes or so. Ben Elton is a genius!

This is one of those films that really suffered from having been cut in half. Everyone complained about the first half not having any real plot when it was released, which isn’t quite true. You just have to pay attention during the 30 seconds of screen time that doesn’t involve ( Read more... )
