Thursday, I got back from the trip to the US that work insisted I go on. The flight was 2 hours late leaving Atlanta - after we’d boarded the plane. This meant that I didn’t land back at Gatwick until 9am, rather than 7.25am. So far, so bad. I finally get my bag, and head out to collect the hire car. It’s raining. Hard.
Try to collect the car, but I’ve forgotten my driving license, so they have to call the DVLA, to check that I’m ok, which I am. The customer paid for this hire car, which meant that all I was scheduled to get was a Fiesta-like. Apparently, I’m getting a huge upgrade. Whether this is BA trying to apologise for leaving me sat on the plane for 2 hours in Atlanta, or something else, I don’t know. What I do know, is that they’ve upgraded me to a 2 month old S-type Jaguar. I’m not going to complain. :-p
Finally get home around 1pm, at which point I have a number of things to do, before repacking my bags, and driving down past Exeter for the wedding of two close friends on the following day.
About half-way there, the steering fails. On the M5, on a bend. The front left corner of the car meets the barrier. Hard. I’m ok, they aren’t.
I call a friend, who comes up from Exeter with Holly, to pick me up, along with my stuff, which includes some candles & stands to be used at the wedding.
The wedding went well, and H’s birthday the next day did also. The weekend ended much better than it began. :-)
