Okay, so I wanted to post this last night, but I was WAY too tired and sore to think straight. I do want to post it before I forget, so here goes:

We had Roller Derby practice yesterday, and it was HARD! My entire body was sore by the end of it, and I had a mini "meltdown" because my knee pads weren't behaving the way I wanted them to. Some good things did happen though. Tammy (our coach, for all intents and purposes) told me that I was on my skates (as in skated longer with less brakes) than last practice two weeks ago. While I still haven't mastered my various stops, I have improved since last time. The stretches are getting easier too. I also discovered that I have the potential to be a very fast skater, but my endurance leaves something to be desired. I believe that, if I can improve my endurance level, I will be one of the faster skaters on the team. Now, here's the big news One of the minimum skills requirements that I have to meet before I can compete is to do 27 laps around the track in 5 minutes. I had my doubts that I could even skate continuously on the track for 5 minutes without stopping, but I had to try. I had someone set the timer for 5 minutes, and skated at a sow pace. I kept track of my laps on my own. at 2 1/2 minutes, I had skated 7 laps, and decided that I was going to get 15 laps in 5 minutes. With 30 seconds left on the clock, I had 4 more laps to complete my goal, and my entire body was on fire, but I pushed on anyway, and gave it my all. With 10 seconds left, I was starting my 14th lap. All of my team mates were cheering, "Keep going! You're doing great! You can do this!" At the end of 5 minutes, I had completed 14 3/4 laps, just shy of my 15 lap goal, but I was still standing. my knees were shaking, and I was breathing heavy, but I did it! Next practice, I will get 16 or 17 laps in! Just watch me! ^_^

There's more I'd like to share, but I have to get to class, so I'll edit this later.
