I decry the current trend of lackluster movies. I just got finished watching Falling Down, with Michael Douglas, the first time through, and was left thinking two things:

I loved Falling Down when it came out. Only one other friend liked it though; everyone else I knew said it was simply awful.

Fuck it, I still like it. Own it, even.

The director did an incredible job of making D-Fens both monstrous and empathic at the same time. It's that dynamic which really makes the movie "work".

It's next on my list of things to buy when I become unpoor. Well, maybe I'll put groceries on the list, first.
