Holiday vs. Christmas

Recently, there's been a battle between using "Merry Christmas" compared to saying "Happy Holidays". Last year, businesses like Walmart, Target, and K-Mart had banned all Christmas declarations, music, and anything else relating to Christmas including the employees saying Merry Christmas which they must say Happy Holidays instead. They did this to be fair for the people who don't really celebrate Christmas but the thing is that even these people are sort of speaking out against the anti-Christmas wave. A couple weeks ago, a rabbi wanted to a Seattle airport to put a menorah next to the Christmas tree that they had there. The airport authority decided to take down the Christmas tree as they felt that if they allowed the rabbi to the menorah there, then they would be obligated to put up other religious icons as well. The rabbi didn't want that at all as he just wanted a menorah. This decision was reversed a few days later because the rabbi wasn't going to sue them if they didn't put up a menorah next to the tree.

I don't really care if there's no Christmas declarations along with other holiday declarations because I don't really care for the aesthetics of the holiday itself. It's actually about drives me crazy especially Christmas music which I have an interesting thing to say about the Grinch song. So I'm waiting for the day when this time of year becomes Happy Holidays and Christmas would be just the day when we get off for work but it might be a long time before that going to happen.

Now about the Grinch song. While I sitting at work today, I had this thought that the guy who sings the song would sound like James Earl Jones if he ever sang. Once again, I think too much while at work.

So Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Holidays, or whatever you celebrate or don't celebrate.
