Oktoberfestive Weekend Fun

I had a really fun weekend, even though I stayed in Munich *gasp*!
It started out great on Friday evening with a glass of red wine, a bubble bath and my copy of "A Clash of Kings". Saturday morning I finally went climbing again. I really, really missed it, but unfortunately you need two people to go climbing. Not really a solo activity. Since I don't know anyone here, climbing really wasn't an option. I finally found someone through the notice board of the Alpine Club. Another woman was looking for a climbing partner, and we arranged to meet up for a morning session Saturday. It was great! We got along very well and our climbing is at a similar level which is very important. Also, the climbing gym that's right by my house is the biggest in Europe! It's brilliant and confusingly hug and just all round fun.
When I got home after climbing, two friends from Berlin dropped by on their way back from Austria. Since the Oktoberfest had just started at noon that day, we decided to walk on over and check it out since neither of us had ever been. It was a bit of a culture shock for us Prussians and terribly crowded since it was opening day.

We walked around a bit, stared at all the Bavarians in their traditional clothing, tried in vain to get into a beer tent which were all over capacity and closed and then decided to walk down to the Isar and have a picnic and drink some beers there. Later we meet up with some other Berliners from our school and went to the Augustiner beergarden. Lots of fun and way too much beer was had by everyone, which made getting up this morning a bit difficult :D
My friends left this morning to drive back to Berlin and I lounged around my apartment nursing my hang over. This evening I met up with my older brother, who's in town because his company is at the Oktoberfest tomorrow. Of course we also went to Oktoberfest tonight. It was a lot less crowded and we checked out a bunch of different beer tents.

In two days, my parents and boyfriend will get here, so I have a feeling I'll be at Oktoberfest a lot next week :)
Now I'm back home and ready to sleep for about a week. Hope all of you had a great weekend as well!
