...well, not much at night. Pretty good naps during the day though!
I'm so fed up with not getting more than a few hours of sleep at a time...sigh. After his awful cold, J outdid himself and slept for six + hours straight. Now we're back to every three hours with the added surprise of having an awake baby in the evenings again. Yes, J is back to doing what he did when he was a month old - going to sleep at (what I consider) a normal time, then waking up after an hour and staying awake till ten or so. Last night I was just dying to get to sleep already - which is nuts, considering I had a two hour nap in the afternoon! - and couldn't because J wouldn't go back to sleep. Worse, I tried to have a shower, but he just kept screaming with D and would only quiet down when laying on top of me with his thumb in his mouth. Eventually he got fussy, I sat him up on my lap and then he grunted, took a huge crap and went promptly to sleep after I changed him. Babies!
I walked down (with J) to the allotment this morning. It's looking pretty good but I'm filled with guilt over not having done much in the last few weeks. The weekend went by in a blur - town with J on Saturday morning while D took the big boys out for a while, Then D took them out again to some event at the university library while a friend came over to see me, D went to some musical event in the evening while I went to the first meeting of a new book group (we've just read
The Settler's Cookbook, an interesting choice as none of us are UK natives). We tried out a new babysitter - 15, but has experience with babies and she's happy to come back! So there's hope. But I digress - Sunday morning was another flurry of activity but promptly after lunch I crashed as I had slept very poorly (with J on me) on the now closed up futon in the study. Ouch. A mad rush to help B finish his homework (he had to build a muscle out of cardboard and rubber bands and then write about it using time connectives - ????) followed by an evening with a whining baby and I was only too happy to collapse into bed at ten.
M has swimming today, B has his trumpet lesson tomorrow, D picked up some groceries so no food order till next week - rush, rush, rush. Plus B was invited out twice last week and I need to reciprocate but between my lack of energy and my messy house...sigh.
D's birthday is in two weeks and I'm taking him out for tapas. M's birthday is a few days later and I need to get cracking on the party. My in laws may be coming at the end of December instead of February - yikes! Just too much going on. Oh, and have I mentioned that J is crawling now? Just when I was resigned to having a filthy house....
