Another week has gone by in a virtual blur. Monday....I don't remember at all. Seriously, I remember nothing.
Ok - I lied. I just remembered. On Monday I received email about a job starting this coming Monday...in Birmingham, of all places. I emailed my cv and presto: the phone rang. I never made the shortlist though. Bummer. It was for a four week contract and very entry-level. I really got ahead of myself there for a minute (though I had to, with such short notice): commute, child care arrangements, etc. Took the kids to the pool for M's swimming lesson.
On Tuesday I took J to a playgroup, but decided to come home after taking the big boys to school (as opposed to going directly there) so that he could have a quick nap. I went mostly for the company - I have a bunch of friends who go there - as I was feeling rather tired and disgruntled from a difficult night. To make matters worse, my legs were itching and I had little bumps on them.
Wedesday I was still tired. A friend was going to come over around 10, but she phoned to say that her 8 month old had just fallen asleep so she would be a while. By 11:30 I had just about given up (though I did put J on the floor with some toys and did a loft run). She did eventually turn up, but didn't stay very long. By the time J was ready for his nap, she was gone. That was also the day that we officially started solids (more about that in another post - and it is, at this point, only a little bit once a day). D went out to see a amateur theater production that evening and instead of hightailing it into bed, I sat around doing internet stuff. He came home, we screwed and though it was rather lovely I really did pay for it next morning because I was even more tired than before.
B's new-ish friend was coming over on Thursday. We figured out that my itching was probably due to the pets having fleas, so D decided to come home early from work and help clean the house. I had another friend over for coffee in the morning but spent a lot of the day stripping beds and vacuuming so that D could spray the house. I picked up the kids (with the friend) from school and took them to run around the allotment. B's friend is a real oddball, but she's so similar to him that they really do get along well, so it all really worked out. We eventually made our way to a nearby playground. J fell asleep on the way home (I told D we'd be home around 5). Once the kids were in bed, I dilly-dallied and we eventually ended up watching Mad Men via the BBC website. I LOVE Mad Men. I slept pretty terribly because J decided to wake up on the middle of the night and talk to himself. But it's so hard to be angry at him because he so adorable. Grrrr.
Friday I took J to the other playgroup - the one I took M to when we first moved here. Again, ran into a bunch of women I know. I was really tired but J was nicely distracted and having fun rolling around so it was loads better than being at home on our own - especially since it had gotten all gloomy out again. I felt really sluggish all day and ended up with a huge cup of coffee again just before I did the afternoon school run. Continued battling my way through the endless pile of laundry. Cooked an awesome salmon and vegetable stir fry for dinner. D offered to run me a bath while I was reading to B and M and afterwards....well, I intended to get into bed and sleep, but D decided to distract me and somehow we ended up going to sleep pretty late. J did that thing again where he was awake, talking to himself, in the middle of the night. I kept trying to roll over and ignore him but he kept patting me on the head. Cute, but frustrating.
