Someone needs to explain how this works....
I'm trying to wean J off of this notion that we need to sit in the room with him at bedtime. At home, he was going to bed quite happily by himself but ever since we arrived in Jerusalem, bedtime has been a long, drawn out affair.
So a week or two ago I started sitting in a chair just outside the room where he could see me. It mostly works, except tonight it just wasn't.
I started off by sitting in the chair. I must have put J back into bed about six or seven times before I gave up and came into the room. I got into bed, lay down on my stomach and started reading a book. At some point, though, I felt little hands playing with my feet at the foot of the bed. I got up and put J back into bed. Again, this happened a bunch of times. Finally I decided that I'd just go to sleep and then he'd sleep too. So I told J that I was going to have a shower and would be back in a few minutes. It actually took about 15 minutes because we're out shower gel and I went to look for the lovely soap I'd been given as a birthday present, and I had to wait for B to finish brushing his teeth before I could get into the shower.
I come back into the room and find J fast asleep.
Go figure.
