Four days till we leave. D spent today at home, mostly not working. I started my day at the Ministry of Interior. Yes, folks, the game is up - the Israeli government has finally figured out that I'm married and I have kids. Whoops. I guess this is what comes of spending longer than three months here. D went to renew the tourist visa he and the kids came in on and when they asked him about his wife, he told them I was Israeli. So today I went to get the kids written permission to leave the country on a foreign passport and began the process of turning them into Israeli citizens. D is not pleased at all but has realized that the game is up, and really, there was no way to keep this from eventually happening.
When I got home (around 10), he decided that he would take B and M to
Hezekiah's Tunnel which is probably every child's dream. B and M came home positively beaming though very hungry at around 3. J and I walked to the old city with them, with the intention of buying a small present for JC at Elie Kouz's shop. Unfortunately Elie wasn't open today and now I"ll have to make another trip to buy something and say goodbye. J and I had lunch together and then he fell asleep remarkably quickly. I had a couple of hours to unwind on my own before the D and the big two came home. D andI eventually had a little doze together at this point. J continued to sleep for a while and woke up close to 4. Coffee and snacks came next and then J and I went to the shuk for cheese (I was making spaghetti and various leftovers) and to the pharmacy to buy toothpaste and something for the wart on my big toe.
Yes, I have a wart on my big toe. It's only been bugging me recently and now I feel it whenever I walk. I was going to wait till we're back in England to take care of it as I'm pretty sure we have bazooka gel from all of the warts B and M have had over the years, but it's driving me crazy NOW. I am now equipped with a pack of little patches to put on and change every 24 hours and with any luck it'll be gone in a week or two.
Tomorrow is another busy day: school for B and M, errands and playing for me and J. Then a friend is coming from Tel Aviv for an event and will come over for lunch when that's over. Nap (with any luck) for J and then off for a picnic with some of my cousins and all of their kids (and mine).
